Everything and nothing in general

October 23, 2006

I’m sporting a 5-day shadow… You can always tell when I’m busy or spreading myself out too thin, my normally meticulous detail to body hair eradication is the first thing to slip a little. Some random, heavy-duty ‘risk management’ safety inspector-type dudes are scheduled to jaunt down from head-office to inspect our local premises’ for our defacto defects.
I’ve been promoted to head-chief-chairman-in-charge of our house-cleaning initiative so that it looks like we actually give a shit… And I don’t mean ‘house-cleaning’ in the metaphorical sense… I mean stacking, sweeping, moping, dumping and basically hiding anything that looks like it shouldn’t be there, in much the same technique that Iraq supposedly used to veil their WoMD. However my effort is more akin to when I was told as a child, to clean up my room, and basically mustered everything to the back of the closet or under the bed… Hey, I’ve only got a week, so sue me…

We broke ground on my sister and bro-in-law’s house last Monday, and things have been tearing along like a roller coaster that had a few leftover nuts & bolts after it was erected… On the surface all appears to be normal, but I feel like the guy who was sent to surreptitiously dispose of the remainder hardware, I know there’s going to be a problem in the near future… I just don’t know the time and place, so I’m just grinning at the crowd and hoping nothing breaks off until the ride is over.

On Saturday morning, I awoke early and sped off for a cup of coffee… Well, maybe ‘sped’ is the wrong word, considering Delilah, my loyal Jeep refused to rev over 1200 RPM’s or consequently achieve speeds higher than 20 MPH. It seems My gross neglect and ‘take her Jeep-ness for granted’ attitude have finally met with some resistance.
So she’s visiting with the mechanic and getting the tender loving care that she should. Today, I feel a reticent conflagration growing in my gut, it’s kindling is that her soi disant sibling Persephone [the Honda Civic] I recently purchased to keep her company… Is now also acting up in the form of being reluctant to start every few twists of the key in her ignition… I need a frigin’ drink…

By happenstance, the Mad Bull called me mid-CSI episodes last night, and we ventured over to the Attic – Pool Bar & Lounge for a couple games, ‘cause all the tables at the Corner Pocket were spoken for… It was a good time as per usual.

Anyway, the workday is done and I’m going to go pick up Delilah now…

  7. Oh, I know about car troubles. My first car, bought when I was a wee lass stayed with me for a good many years and serve me well for most of the time. Towards the end, the poor babe, wanted to serve but alas, didn’t have the strength to, and I had to part with her. Was my first and favourite.
